Time goes on. The tears may be wiped away. However, the memories that I have of my beloved brother, John Morris Joyce who lost his life in Vietnam on April 17, 1969 are still vivid and real.
Please pause for a moment today to reflect on the memory of the goodness for which he stood, the character which he displayed, the inspiration he was and the lives he touched and improved. And all of these great things he was, live.... and will live in the hearts and minds, and souls of those who knew him.
Sincerely,
Julie Joyce-Hoffer
It was my honor to have known Lt. John M. Joyce and to have served with him. Lt. Joyce was well respected by every man in the company. Lt. Joyce would never make anyone do anything that he would not do himself. On that fateful day he performed his last act of kindness by carrying half my load and proceeded to the front to lead his platoon. I know one thing, I made a friend and lost a friend all in one day.
