FOR OUR LEADERS BODY  COUNT WAS THE NAME OF THE GAME

AND THOSE IN THE BUSH WERE THE BAIT FOR THEIR FAME

WE WERE SENT IN TO BRING OUT THE PREY

SO WE COULD CALL IN SUPPORT TO FINISH THE DAY

WE'D USUALLY KILL A GOOD NUMBER  OF THE ENEMY

WHICH MADE US PROUD  BECAUSE WE WERE TRUE INFANTRY

HOW COULD OUR LEADERS BE SO CLUELESS

AS TO USE BODY COUNTS TO MEASURE THEIR TRUENESS

BEING GOOD SOLDIERS WE DID WHAT WAS ORDERED

NEVER STOPPING TO THINK  OUR COUNTRY WASN' T  SUPPORTIVE

AFTER  EACH FIREFIGHT  "HOW MANY DID WE LOSE?" WAS THE NEXT QUESTION  ASKED

KNOWING THAT FURTHER UP THE LINE THEY DIDN'T GIVE A RAT'S ASS

AS LONG AS THE  ENEMY'S BODY COUNT SHOWED ON THEIR RECORD

LEADERS IN HIGH PLACES WOULD REMAIN IN GOOD GRACES

AS I REFLECT BACK AND THINK OF HOW RIDICULOUS  IT ALL WAS

FOR OUR LEADERS TO THINK WE COULD WIN BY ATTRITION

WHEN WE KNEW OUR ENEMY HAD SO MUCH AMBITION

BEING FUELED BY THE FIRE  OF  OUR HOMEFRONT PROTESTING

THERE WAS NO LACK OF RESOLVE FOR OUR ENEMY RESISTING

OUR HANDS WERE TIED BEHIND OUR BACK

WE COULDN'T ADVANCE BEYOND THE DMZ CRACK

WE PAID THE PRICE FOR OUR  INCOMPETENT LEADERSHIP

ELECTED BY THE VOTERS WITH  ALL THEIR  CONFIDENCE

BODYS, MINDS AND SOULS LOST  AND CRIPPLED

FOREVER  MORE  IN A LOST  SEA  OF  RIPPLES
