Stonewall Mountain is noted for this carving which depicts three Confederate figures during the Civil War: Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson.
Jim got everybody a good deal on the tickets for the park. You could take the lift to the top of the mountain or hike the distance.
Once we entered the park a very nice young man volunteered to take a picture of our group.
(L-R) Doc, Leslye, Carolyn, Mick, Ron, Naomi, Steve, Shilin, Greg, Jim, Tom, Pete, Cookie, Patti and Bruce.
Leslye, Carolyn and Mick decided to hike the mountain and I tagged along. The rocks are granite as is the whole mountain.
Carolyn's trying to get us to come over and look at a rattle snake she's pointing out.
As we neared the top you can see the beautiful view we had.
I don't know the name of this pole but that's chewing gum pieces all over it.
The final distance to the top was really steep. That's why they provided the railings. You wouldn't have made it without them.
The others met us at the top and we went into the visitor's center where they had drinks and snacks and we could take the lift back down.
The next place we headed for was the train at the end of the park.
Jim and Tom as we leave the station. Naomi, with Steve beside her and Greg, are in front of them.
Along the route we saw the old train station.
The last day of the reunion we went to Stone Mountain Park
Next we went for a ride on the "Ducks". Also known as WW II amphibious boats.
Ron butted in front of the kids and got to drive the Duck for a little while.
We had beautiful view of Stone Mountain and a riverboat
docked at the bottom.
We passed by this 732 bell Carillon. It came from the 1964 World's Fair in New York City and was donated by the Coca Cola Company. Elegant music emanated from it.
